Honeymoon in Paris

Paris is a city, that offers a huge amount of attractions, no one is therefore surprised, that it is visited by over 20 million tourists every year. A short weekend trip will be definitely enough, to taste the incredible charm of the French capital. We present you the most important places to visit.

Nobody probably will be surprised, that the first position on our list is the Eiffel Tower – a symbol not only of Paris, but of the whole France and the most famous building in the world. The Iron Lady was built in 1889 and is located in the western part of the city on the “La Seine”. It was established to commemorate the French Revolution, which celebrated its centenary. It was meant to be demolished after 20 years, but the founder – Gustave Eiffel did not want to let that happen, so has led to build on it the meteorological observatory. Today, more than 300-meters construction is the biggest tourist attraction of Paris and France, and the visitors can admire the beautiful panorama view of the city from three different view terraces, which are located at different heights. The top of the tower can be reached by the elevator. A cheaper option are stairs, but more than 1,600 degrees only leads to the second floor. Here is a very luxurious restaurant Le Jules Verne, which combines the masterful French cuisine with the breathtaking views. In the restaurant formal cloths are required.

Another important symbol of Paris, known by everyone is the Arc de Triomphe. Construction began in 1806 and ended in 1836. The monument was initiated by Napoleon to celebrate winning of the Austerlitz battle. The object is 50m high and 45m wide, and is located on the Charles de Gaulle Place, near the famous Champs Elysées. Since 1920, under the Arc there is placed the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier placed.

Next, it is worth to take a walk through the Champs Elysees. The popular avenue is approx. 2 km long and on which there are located exclusive shops, restaurants, cinemas, theaters, numerous fountains, charming rows evenly trimmed trees and of course Elysee Palace – the seat of the President of France and a meeting place of the Council of Ministers.

The Louvre is another place on which you need to spend a little bit more time because of the long queues and the size of the object. It is one of the largest museums in the world and the old royal palace, so try to visit it too. The museum is placed at the right bank of the Seine and there is also collection of about three hundred thousand art works, which are divided into eight sections: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Near East, Ancient Rome, Ancient Greece, The Art of Islam, Sculpture, Arts and Crafts, Paintings, Drawings and Graphics. Before visiting it would be good to obtain a map of the museum and decide what you want to see, because it is impossible to see everything, unless you have for it a couple of days. Compulsory work to see is of course the Mona Lisa by Leonardo da Vinci.

On the Cite Island placed at the Seine is a Gothic Cathedral of Notre Dame known worldwide, thanks to the novel “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” by Victor Hugo. Cathedral was created in the years 1163-1345, so its construction lasted 180 years. It is important, historical place, where many important events took place, including coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte to be emperor. Amazing spacious interior impress with its harmonious symmetry. Special impression on tourists is making beautiful, colorful.
